Last year I decided that I needed to fence the chickens out of my garden and orchard. (This was after I took pity and let them have the whole back yard and not just the little A-frame tractor.) I bought a 100′ roll of wire that would fit into my Prius, and my friend came over to help me unroll it around the space. We propped it up with a few metal stakes. The last few feet, still rolled up, were curled around the pole of the martin house. I pinched two of the grids together with a plastic clip, and that was my entryway. Amazingly it has stood all this time, under the weight of a prolific passion vine and some leaning sunflowers.
Tomorrow the handyman comes to make an honest fence of it. Same wire, but with posts and wood framing. And a gate.
